A Message From The Executive of Local 44

As your executive, we have had a number of issues to deal over the last 18 months. We would normally have had local membership meetings to report to you, keep you informed and have discussions about these issues. This has been impossible through this period, and we have relied more on the Local 44 website to post all the information for the different Bargaining units. We have done our best and have heard from many of you through this time.

We are still a little way from having our first meeting that we can hold safely. In light of that, there are a couple of items of business we would like to address here.

We would normally hold elections for Stewards, H&S reps and Auditors in December. We will be postponing the elections until the spring of 2022 when we hope to have a regular membership meeting at that time. This meeting would also include the regular Bargaining Unit reports and audit report.

Another issue we want to address is the ongoing Vaccination Mandates that have been communicated to all our members. They have been evolving since they were first communicated last September. We have heard from a lot of you over the last 2 months about the details, uncertainty and consequences of these mandates. If you have questions about this, please call your Chief Steward or an Executive member. We might not have all the answers but can help you navigate through the information.

For BTS members, there will be a website posting with details about submitting BTS Bargaining proposals soon. Please fill out your proposals and get them back before November 20. There will be more details in the web post.
